A Message from the Foundation President

It is an incredible honor to serve as president of the SAGES Education and Research Foundation.  My first ever SAGES meeting was in 1992 at the outset of the laparoscopic revolution, and it was the most electrifying meeting I have ever attended with new techniques and procedures being developed almost weekly.   SAGES has meant so much to me and my career, as I’m sure it has for you, and many of the initiatives our organization has undertaken and the evolution of minimally invasive surgery over the past 25+ years would not have been possible without critical funding from the SAGES Foundation:  FLS, FES, FUSE, Safe cholecystectomy, Global surgery, OWLS, and many others.

Sylla

“The SAGES Education and Research Foundation has an exceptional track record of supporting research endeavors that drive innovation and enhance clinical practice. As a resident, being awarded a research grant was a defining moment that profoundly influenced my early career and set the path for my professional trajectory at SAGES and beyond. Please donate to SAGES Foundation and support the future of our field and our future leaders.”

Pat Sylla, MD

“Giving to the SAGES Foundation is an investment in innovation, education, and advancements in patient care. The Foundation has supported SAGES’ most impactful endeavors including FLS, FES, OWLS, and numerous educational training programs and research grants. Without the support of the SAGES Foundation, none of these efforts would have been able to be completed.”

Jeffrey Marks, MD

“In terms of giving to SAGES Foundation, I can think of now better place to invest! SAGES supports all of the things that matter in surgery – patient care, education, quality and fun! Investing in the SAGES Foundation allows our organization to reinvest in its members who go on to do amazing work.”

Jake Greenberg, MD, EMD

Chief Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Duke Surgery, SAGES Board Member and Resident and Fellow Training Committee Co-Chair

Salky

“I have been a member of SAGES since 1990. Our use of laparoscopic/robotic surgery technologies is mainly because of SAGES support and belief in these technologies. Yes, there are other surgical societies but none were able to grasp laparoscopy at the beginning and carry forward to were it is today. I am proud to have supported our Foundation for over 30 years. I would not be who I am today without SAGES and the Foundation.”

Barry Salky, MD

Professor Emeritus at Mount Sinai Health System, Past SAGES Board member
